Protecting the Village's Interests [Mission]

Ryuujin had been traveling for around thirty minutes now and was approximately ten kilometers away from the campsite. He was looking forward to this mission as it allowed him to test his strength and also did not involve traveling. While Ryuujin has always cherished solitude, more than a day of traveling alone can turn a person awry.

He reached the campsite just as the sun began to peak out from under the horizon. They’ll probably be asleep… he thought that won’t be any fun. He hid under the shadows of the surrounding forest as he scouted out the campsite. The two tents were quite large but most likely only held a dozen or so shinobi. There were no bandits guarding the tent but he knew better than to recklessly enter.

While Ryuujin’s technique was miles stronger than the bandits’, the sheer number of them allowed their water technique to overcome his own. The two jutsus collided and counteracted each other, nullifying the effects and erupting steam throughout the camp. Suddenly, a barrage of shuriken raced towards the bandits.

“Everyone, take cover!” a bandit shouted as they all took out kunai and began deflecting the barrage. This proved to be a difficult task as the steam hindered the eyesight’s of the bandits. “What the hell is the meaning of this, show yourself coward!” a bandit yelled in the general direction of Ryuujin.

Gradually, the steam dispersed leaving a lone shadow in front of the ten bandits. Ryuujin stood there with a swirling ball of chakra in his hand. “That…that’s the Rasengan!” a bandit said, as he looked on bewildered.

“Oh, you know this technique? Have you ever felt it head-on?” Ryuujin asked.

“Arghh, urghh!!” the bandit shouted as the Rasengan expanded, turning into a large spiraling vortex of chakra. The other bandits looked on in dismay as their comrade was ripped to shreds (not literally… well sort of). When the vortex calmed and dispersed, there was a large spherical crater in the ground with the bandit lying on the ground and Ryuujin standing next to him.

Hmm, seems like overkill Ryuujin thought to himself before looking towards the other nine bandits. “Alright, who’s next?” he asked as he jumped out of the crater and stood before them.

“You… you heartless bastard!” a bandit shouted as he ran towards Ryuujin with a kunai. So you then... Ryuujin thought as he summoned a kunai from his forearm seal.

“You are a bandit. You kill for money and greed, nothing more nothing less. Your friend may be a father and he may be named Rukai... but here on the battlefield. Here on the battlefield, there are no names, only men. It is only after death, that you may call yourself something other than scum.” Ryuujin said before slitting the bandit’s throat.

The other eight bandits became enraged, “I’ll show you!”

“You think you’re so tough?”

“I’ve seen boys stronger than you!”

“Why don’t you attack me?”

The bandits all shouted as Ryuujin activated his sharingan. “What! An Uchiha? This is just unfair, is this what we're up against?” a bandit said.

After travelling for nearly thirty minutes, Ryuujin finally caught site of Konohagakure. The Chuunin gate keepers were happy to see Ryuujin and greeted him. “Hello, welcome back!” they exclaimed as Ryuujin walked through the gates. “How was the mission?” they asked him. “It was fined” Ryuujin responded as he continued walking towards the Hokage’s office. “Cold as always…” one of the Chuunins said to the other. “I know right…” the other responded.

Ryuujin reported his mission report and headed back to his home. He sat on his bed and wondered, thinking about his past, and the words that he had said to the bandit.
