Keigai
The Keigai clan, once a nomadic group has recently settled in Kumogakure, despite the clan having more than a few people uncomfortable with such a decision. Even so, the clan still mostly keeps to itself out of habit born of their appearance, for many generations, leading to them being ostracized or outright hunted.
The clan, instead of giving a partner to a child when they reach a specified age, children are, from the age of six onward, introduced to each new litter of nin-kittens once the litter is three weeks old, with kittens selecting a human to partner with From there, the cats, once they are weaned off their mother, will go searching for the human that they chose. Should the human have died between when they chose them, and when they were weaned, the cat will generally wait for a period of a week to three months before picking another human.
The clan generally makes a habit of calling clan members with certain traits as if they were a cat in such a situation. Members that marry a person who is a stronger fighter, then stay out of the field are generally called ‘aibyou’ or pet cats, members who break of contact with the clan- something that generally consigns the member to a short life- are called ‘noraneko’ or stray cats. Non-members who marry into the clan are called ‘aibyouka’ or cat lovers- conversely, people who dislike or a re enemies of the clan are commonly called ‘nekogirai’ or cat haters. Orphans are generally called ‘suteneko’ or abandoned cat, until they are adopted.
Members who portray themselves in a masculine manner, regardless of sex or gender, are addressed as ‘osuneko’ or tomcat. As counterpart, those who portray themselves in a typically feminine manner are generally addressed as ‘ieneko’ or domestic cats.
The clan, generally has no real concept of marriage- or rather, a different idea of what a marriage is. The clan views any romantic union of two or more people, regardless of sex, gender, or how they portray themselves. Provided that abuse is not involved, the clan is more than happy to tolerate all kinds of relationships, and takes a fairly communal stance on raising any resulting children, although the oyaneko-parent cats- have the main say in how they are raised.
Kekkei Genkai/Traits
The Keigai can be considered a feline counterpart to the Inuzuka clan, albeit one that has blurred the line between human and animal even further. This has resulted in the clan developing an…. unusual physical appearance to say the least, when taken in as a whole.
First, the clans ears, while in the usual position for a human, are longer, and pointed, as well as being set in such a way as to be prehensile to a degree- allowing the clan members to move their ears to catch sounds, as well as moving in displays of emotion. Second, the clan has eyes that are not only slightly larger than normal, but have a slit pupil, giving them excellent night vision. When their eyes dilate, for any reason, they wind up with pupils that look very large, which can be perceived as either disturbing or “cute”, depending on the situation. Other apparent physical differences are the presence of claws on the hands and feet, and sharper teeth.
Less apparent physiological differences would be the skeletal structure, which is not only more flexible, but also permits them to get on all fours in a posture similar to the Inuzuka. The clan also has excellent hearing and sense of smell. They also have a very acute sense of taste pertaining to sweet, meaning that most of the clan members are ill tolerant of candies and other sweets. While not quite unable to make fats from the food they consume, they do have difficulty doing so and thus need to eat plenty of meats. They also have increased muscle strength, particularly in the legs, back, jaw, and hands. The clan also has a very sensitive inner ear, which improves their sense of balance, but also makes them more prone to motion sickness.
The clan’s hair color tends to run along the greyscale, although there are instances of brown and orange-reds. Eye color varies more wildly, coming in greys, blues, greens, hazels, browns, reds, yellows, oranges, and even shades of purple.
As to the clan’s partner animals, the cats vary wildly in size, fur color, eye color, and personality. Size runs from the size of big cats such as tigers and lions, to smaller than the average housecat.There are several different ‘strains’ of the cats, with whatever the cats specialty being usually dictating how the shinobi they are partnered with directs their own growth.

Fighting style of the clan- takes advantage of the clans in born flexibility and general physiology. Has a lot of bending at odd angles, and emphasis on tripping up the enemy without being unable to get attacks in. Prefers quick strikes as opposed to drawn out engagements, and has the user put emphasis on taking advantage of any upward terrain.

By channeling chakra to the fingers and toes, the clan member can sharpen their claws to an unnatural level by stimulating keratin growth, as well as hardening the nails. It should be noted that the claws must be trimmed back to the previous length, which due to the additional hardness, requires special nail cutters.

The Kegai clan member or their partner using Maneshi lunges at the target, and pins them to the ground, holding down their arms, and bites into the throat. From there, the clan member can either attempt to tear out the victim’s throat- more commonly done if the clan member’s teeth are currently under the effect of Yaiba Shiga- or clamps down until the victim suffocates. Dangerous because even if one escapes the hold, if it was maintained, the victim could suffer a heart attack.

Jutsu that reshapes the jaw and teeth to the default state for an adult Keigai clan member- including replacing any teeth that have been jarred loose, fallen out, been sharpened, cracked, or otherwise damaged or altered. In the case something needs repaired, the patient is given a pill with the necessary minerals and such to make the changes without damaging the person’s body. Usually an anesthetic is given do to the severity of the pain.

After activating the jutsu, the Keiga clan member bears their teeth, usually in a snarl, and their pupils contract, taking on a faint glow. This, combined with the mind altering part of the genjutsu, incites either fear or the feeling of being challenged.*
*If the person/people on the receiving end has a lower power, they suffer the fear effect. If equal or higher, they suffer the ‘challenged’ effect.

A technique that originated as a way to handle rambunctious kittens, this genjutsu/iijutsu combination was put into combat use by a house-wife of the clan. The technique is used by first activating the jutsu, and then making contact, preferably a grasp, with the back of the neck. Once the user does so, the iijutsu mechanic shuts down the ability to move the body, although not systems necessary for life, while the genjutsu part sends the person on the receiving end into a docile, calm state. This lasts for a few seconds after contact is removed, but after that timeframe the person’s ability to move, and reaction to being under the jutsu, is back under their control.
